Offerings from the Stacks

Offerings from the Stacks is an installation in the Mamdouha Bobst Gallery, located in Bobst Library at NYU. This work of participatory art was made in collaobration with the collection librarians at Bobst. The "handbooks" showcase the hands and interests of the collection librarians who keep NYU Bobst Libray organized and searchable. Librarians traced their hands and uploaded them in a Google form where they shared their favorite quote from a book in the library, and the book's call number. This information was translated into a series of handbooks exhibited on an artful shelf in the gallery, inspiring visitors and readers to engage the collection and leave their own favorite quote in the handbook of blank pages.
